Financial Sourcer/Researcher – Part-Time, Remote

Posted 12 months ago

We’re looking for a skilled researcher who can find talented quant traders, PMs, and strategists—the people who don’t respond to generic recruiter messages.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research and identify candidates for quantitative trading, portfolio management, and systematic strategy roles
  • Source passive candidates through LinkedIn, industry networks, and creative channels beyond traditional job boards
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines using LinkedIn Recruiter, Bullhorn (our ATS), and market intelligence
  • Write outreach messages that get responses—personalized, compelling, not templates
  • Screen profiles against requirements and client specifications
  • Track market intelligence: who’s moving, compensation trends, team dynamics, competitive landscape
  • Maintain organized records and detailed candidate notes in our systems

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • Understanding of financial markets, trading, or quantitative finance (you should know what a Sharpe ratio is)
  • Strong research skills: Boolean searches, LinkedIn advanced filters, creative sourcing techniques
  • Excellent written communication—your outreach messages represent us to senior-level candidates
  • Self-directed work style: you’ll get projects and objectives
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong follow-through
  • Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, Excel/Google Sheets, and ATS platforms (Bullhorn experience helpful but not required)

Ideal Background: Someone who’s curious, persistent, and enjoys the research challenge. Maybe you worked in financial services and want flexibility. Maybe you’re naturally good at research and want to learn recruiting. Either way, you need to be someone who won’t give up after the first dead end and views candidate identification as problem-solving.

What We Offer:

  • Fully remote (work from anywhere in the US)
  • Flexible hours: structure your 10-20 hours around your life
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience plus completion bonuses
  • Training on advanced sourcing methodologies and our specialized market
  • Exposure to executive-level searches and sophisticated buy-side clients

To Apply:

Email scrognale@greythorneassociates.com or tlavin@greythorneassociates.com with:

  1. Your resume
  2. Brief note (4-5 sentences) covering:
    • Your financial markets knowledge/background
    • Why this role interests you
    • Your preferred weekly schedule and availability

A straightforward email works better than a formal cover letter, we value substance over formality.
